Lange Kromhout
Dutch soldiers are chatting with the lady of the house at Kromhout 133 (now 187). The photo appears to have been taken after the capitulation. None of the Dutch soldiers are carrying any weapons. After the fighting ended in May 1940, many Dutch soldiers remained in the city of Dordrecht, even several weeks after the war began. They then went on extended leave. In 1943, a large number of soldiers had to go back into captivity. This was a reason for many former Dutch soldiers to go into hiding.
