Baricades Bagijnhof

Citizens of Dordrecht walk over the Bagijnhof in Dordrecht. The tiles are still stacked to form barricades. These barricades were constructed during the May days of 1940. On May 13, 1940, the Bagijnhof was the scene of heavy fighting when German tanks broke through over the Vriesebrug and ended up at the Bagijnhof. It was the brave actions of Ensign Dekker that halted the German tank attack. After that, the tanks retreated.
