Bicycles at Amstelwijck

A Dutch soldier next to a pile of bicycles left behind after the fighting. The photo was taken at the side of the villa.

Many buildings have been added since May 1940 when it was just the villa. In the casemate park opposite the villa, Dutch soldiers were ambushed by a German paratrooper attack on the morning of May 10th, resulting in many casualties on the Dutch side.
