Convoy on the Zwijndrechtse bridge
German vehicles are driving over the Zwijndrecht bridge during the Second World War. The bridge was an important connection between Dordrecht and Rotterdam and was frequently used by the German army. This photo was taken early in the war. This is evident from the fact that no Flak emplacements have been built in this photo. These were wooden structures that housed an anti-aircraft gun. These anti-aircraft guns were placed on the bridges later in the war. The bridge was also guarded. This does not seem to be the case here.
