Air raid shelters

With the increasing threat of war, measures were taken during the mobilization to protect the civilian population in the Netherlands, including in Dordrecht. In the first photo, we see a constructed airraid shelter at the Spuiweg, opposite to the tunnel. The row of houses at the roundabout still stands to this day. The second photo shows the construction of another shelter near the Johan de Witt bridge on the Vest. This area has changed significantly since the war, but the photo clearly shows the approximate location of this airraid shelter
