On guard at the Bosboom-Toussaintschool

German paratroopers stand guard at the school on Bosboom-Toussaintstraat in May 1940. The school served as barracks for the 1st Depot Company of the Corps Army Maritime Engineers during the mobilization period. The guardhouse is still there. The photo was taken shortly after the surrender. paratroopers have taken over the school now. On the left, a young boy from Dordrecht leans against the wall. The school still exists today. It will soon be repurposed as a residential complex for elderly people with dementia.
