As the Corps of Army Maritime Engineers had its garrison in Dordrecht, they were often involved in various parades and ceremonies in the city. It was not uncommon for the citizens of Dordrecht to see Dutch soldiers in the streets.

The photo was made during a parade by the staff of the Corps Army Maritime Engineers, amidst the mayor and aldermen, in honor of the 40th anniversary of Queen Wilhelmina’s reign in Amsterdam in September 1938.
