Liberation

Mayor Bleeker greets his Dordrecht citizens during the liberation of Dordrecht while walking along the Grotekerksebuurt. The mayor had been in hiding until recently. When strikes also took place in Dordrecht in April-May 1943, the mayor refused to provide lists of striking civil servants. As a result, he was removed from office and replaced by NSB mayor Van Houten. During the liberation of Dordrecht, Bleeker was reinstated as mayor of Dordrecht.
