German soldiers and Dutch resistance fighters
German soldiers are talking with two members of the Dordrecht Domestic Forces on the Wijnstraat during the liberation. Remarkably, they are still armed. The Domestic Forces had received strict instructions from Prince Bernhard not to disarm the Germans on their own initiative. This would be done by the Allied soldiers. In Dordrecht, this led to unusual scenes due to the later arrival of the Canadian liberators, where Germans were still walking armed through the streets while the liberation was already a fact. This photo shows that the transfer of authority in Dordrecht went smoothly. There were no special incidents in the city while awaiting liberation.
