Sailors in front of huize Kooijman

German Kriegsmarine soldiers are playing with a dog across from Huize Kooiman. The building was used by the Kriegsmarine, and the Nieuwe Haven was also frequently used by these servicemen. From Dordrecht, the Germans sailed with inland vessels toward Zeeland to supply the German troops stationed there. These supply runs sometimes resulted in casualties, some of whom were buried in Dordrecht at the municipal cemetery. It is an interesting photograph showing everyday life in occupied Dordrecht.
